We previously told you about Girl Walks Into a Bar, writer-director Sebastian Gutierrez's movie that will debut on the Web—the first case I know of where a movie was made from the start with this in mind. Shangri-La Entertainment has now not only announced specifics of how this will work, but also released a trailer to whet our appetites.

The 80-minute film stars Zachary Quinto and my future second wife Carla Gugino, along with Danny DeVito, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Alexis Bledel, future third wife Rosario Dawson, Robert Forster, and Josh Hartnett. Quite the cast, to say the least. The movie "follows a series of characters in interlocking stories taking place in ten different bars during the course of one evening in Los Angeles."
The film will debut on the Web on March 11th in the YouTube Screening Room. It's presented by YouTube and Lexus, leading me to believe that we'll have to sit through a car commercial or two before we're able to watch the whole thing, but I'm at least hoping they don't interrupt it in the middle for more commercials. The trailer is now also available on Shangri-La's YouTube channel, but we've got it for you right here:
I think this looks really good. If it were coming to a theater near me, in fact, I'd definitely pay to see it. As it stands, I'll have to settle for streaming it over the Internet, but I'm glad to learn that it'll be on YouTube, at least, as there are a lot of options for watching their content on a big HDTV rather than a smaller computer screen.
There is one option that's been announced so far to see Girl Walks Into a Bar on a real big screen: later that day (6:30pm on March 11), the film will be screening at the South by Southwest film festival. If any of you are going, it'd be great if you could check this screening out, and please be sure to report back on how it goes! I'm particularly curious to learn whether or not the nudity-obscuring black bars we see in the trailer above are a YouTube-only thing, only added into the movie after the specific Web distribution method was chosen, or if that's actually a part of the movie (for comedic purposes, presumably).
