Director David O. Russell's name has been a popular topic in the world of movie news lately, whether it's the pre-Oscar buzz surrounding The Fighter or updates about his upcoming movie Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. Recently at an awards show, the highly-sought after director spoke to Playlist about several of the projects he has on his crowded plate, including another possible reunion with Mark Wahlberg for the film Cocaine Cowboys.

I'm working on Drake's Fortune right now. I'm really digging it, I think the story's coming together in really intense cool way, and I also have a project with the Weinsteins called The Silver Linings Playbook and I might also work on something at Universal called Two Guns, so those are the things I'm looking at right now, I might also do something called Cocaine Cowboys with Mark Wahlberg so there's lots of things we're looking at.
Cocaine Cowboys is the story of a drug dealer named Jon Roberts who had ties to the Miami drug cartel during the 1970's. Their influence pushed the rise of cocaine during the 70s and 80s, and led to a massive crimewave in Miami during that time. Leonardo DiCaprio and director Peter Berg were originally attached to the project, along with Wahlberg, but now only Wahlberg and possiby Russell remain in the future plans.
Long story short, Russell is a busy bee with many projects on his to-do list, not to mention he is also up for a Best Director bid at the Oscar's on Sunday. All that said, I suspect we'll see more from Cocaine Cowboys sooner rather than later.
