Friday, February 25, 2011 at 5:13PM Trailer for Danny Boyle's 'Frankenstein'
Danny Boyle's stage adaptation of Mary Shelley's classic story Frankenstein will be broadcast in select movie theaters around the world as part of the National Theatre in London's "National Theatre Live" program. To promote the event, they have released a teaser trailer.
It's a really great teaser which I think will definitely help promote the play. (It has certainly piqued my interest, at least.) With Boyle attached, it will be interesting to see how well the play's theatrical run does and if that drums up support for a possible film adaptation somewhere down the line.
The play was written by Nick Dear and stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Johnny Lee Miller, who are taking turns playing Doctor Frankenstein and The Creature. (One night Cumberbatch will play Frankenstein and Miller will play The Creature; the next night they switch.) The play will air in British movie theaters March 17 and 24, with varying show times in theaters around the world.
