Snarky New Poster for 'Super'

It seems like we haven't heard anything about James Gunn's superhero comedy Super in quite a while, but with an April 1 release date quickly approaching, it's time to change that. For starters, we've got a new poster to share with you.

The film stars Rainn Wilson, Ellen Page, Liv Tyler, and Kevin Bacon, all of whom get equal billing in this new poster. It seems like it's really the Rainn Wilson show, though, from the clips and synopses we've seen so far.

I really like the tattered-and-folded look of this poster, though the mouth and eye cut-outs don't really do it for me, mostly because they look so half-assed and obviously drawn-on. The speech bubble saying "Shut up crime!" is kind of funny, especially if you imagine Wilson saying it in his typical deadpan style. The tagline is the best part, though: "He'll totally f**cking beat evil." Check out the new poster below:

Of course comic book-based "KickAss" did pretty well, but other gonzo-hero movies "Special" and "Defendor" never made it much past straight-to-video. Maybe if it's funny enough it'll do what they didn't, but I'd say it's release being shoved around indicates the weakness in it's powers.
