Sunday, February 6, 2011 at 3:08PM Javier Bardem, Ralph Fiennes as Villains in Bond 23?
Word is director Sam Mendes plans to take the James Bond franchise into darker, more mature territory in the next film. Earlier in the week, the studio offered a role as the main villain to Javier Bardem and are currently in talks with Ralph Fiennes about a similiar part, according to Daily Mail.

The Daily Mail also claims that unspecified offers have went out to two more well known actors for the cast of Bond 23. I'll be curious to find out who else has been added to this already impressive cast list, if Bardem and Fiennes have officially joined Daniel Craig on the role sheet by then. Though you will find Bardem's name on the cast list already on IMDB.
Schedule wise, Fiennes has all but wrapped up filming on the Harry Potter movies and Bardem is busier than ever with Cogan's Trade also on the horizon. I'm pumped about the possibility of these two great actors joining Mendes and Craig for this installment.
Maybe Mendes can even bring some of the dark, morbid atmosphere he created for the film Road to Perdition into his ideal Bond project.
My prediction, when it's all said and done Bond 23 will go down as the best Bond movie of the Daniel Craig era, possibly ever. Those are pretty lofty expectations for a movie that so far only looks good on paper.
