Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at 3:49AM Keanu Reeves '47 Ronin' Gets Start Date & Adds to Cast List
It hasn't been 100 years since Keanu Reeves a.k.a "The One" was in a good movie, it only feels like it. The Matrix star will get another shot to impress us soon on the big screen in the samurai flick 47 Ronin. In fact, today we have some news regarding his latest project.

Cinemablend.com is reporting that Universal sent out a press release today stating that the new film, directed by relative newcomer Carl Rinsch is set to start production March 14, and has added four Japanese actors to the cast list. The producers have brought in Hiroyuki Sanada, Kou Shibasaki, Tadanobu Asano and Rinko Kikuchi to star alongside Reeves in this 18th Century story based on an outcast band of samurai called the 47 Ronin who are out to avenge the death of their master.
The press release came with an image of the film's cast, including the director. From right to left is Kikuchi, Asano, Sanada, Neo (Reeves), Shibasaki and Rinsch.

Movie fans. like myself want to see Reeves in a good movie, just as much as he probably needs to be a part of a successful project again, after starring in big time duds like The Day the Earth Stood Still and Street Kings. I'm rooting for the guy to get his acting career back on track and think 47 Ronin sounds like the kind of movie to make that happen.
47 Ronin is set for release on November 21, 2012.

Agreed, The Day The Earth Stood Still was awful; lightweight and totally patronising, but I thought Neo was pretty good in it - has that cool, emotionless exterior down to a tee.
Street Kings was bloody good!
This is classic...
