Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at 5:29PM Eva Mendes on Shortlist of Actresses Up for 'Total Recall' Reboot Cast
I'm super psyched to see additional casting begin for Len Wiseman's Total Recall reboot starring Colin Farrell as Doug Quaid/Hauser. Today Deadline received a shortlist of actresses being considered to fill the two female lead roles opposite of Farrell, and it's full of attractive talent with Eva Mendes among the names being discussed for both parts.
The first role is that of Quaid's wife Lori, played by Sharon Stone in the original Total Recall who tries to kill him. Kate Bosworth and Diane Kruger are on deck to test for the part this week, with Mendes also involved in the mix. The other female lead is of Melina, who is Quaid's ally and former lover who helps him free the people of Mars. Mendes is reading for this role as well along with the lovely Paula Patton.
Apparently, Jessica Biel and former Bond beauty Eva Green are also considered possible options by the studio. With filming slated to begin in May, these casting decisions should be made soon with an announcement expected shortly after.
If I had my druthers about who they should ultimately pick, I'd go with Bosworth as Quaid's wife and Patton as Melina. I would never suspect the petite Bosworth as a killer, which makes her the perfect choice in my opinion. And honestly I'd just like to see Patton in the movie because she's smoking hot.
In the end, I wouldn't be surprised to see Mendes land either role, as she seems like a shoe in. I bet it will be a close call with so many solid actresses interested in the film though.
