Sunday, March 27, 2011 at 9:39PM Hank Azaria & James Marsden to Join the Farrelly Brother's 'The Three Stooges'?
It's funny, only a couple hours after Deadline broke the story that Will Sasso would be playing Curly in the Farrelly Brother's The Three Stooges project, two more actors were reportedly pegged as the frontrunners to lock down the parts of Larry and Moe. Deadline speculates that Hank Azaria and former X-Men star James Marsden are close to inking deals for the film, and are the names being circulated the most among unspecified sources.
Azaria and Marsden (pictured below) both co-star with a bunny voiced by Russell Brand in the upcoming animated comedy Hop.

There's no word on who will play which role at this point, and it's still a possibility that neither ends up making the final cut. Azaria seems like a natural pick for Moe Howard, while it remains a mystery to me how Marsden fits either role. He did show a little comedic potential in the Death at a Funeral reboot, but I can't imagine him pulling off the physical/slapstick comedy the Stooges are famous for.
Of course, the Farrellys already surprised me with the addition of the lesser known Sasso as Curly, and opting not to go with Johnny Knoxville as Moe. I'll be curious to see who they finally choose to play Larry and Moe, as Azaria and Marsen could be the first of many names linked to The Three Stooges movie. Production is planned to begin sometime next month.
