Monday, April 18, 2011 at 4:39PM Sarah Lane Still Insists that Natalie Portman Fooled Audiences in 'Black Swan'

Ballerina Sarah Lane isn't letting go of the controversy surrounding Natalie Portman in the Black Swan. Says the American Ballet Theatre star, "Full body shots with actual dancing is me. That why they hired me." She recently even went on ABC News' 20/20 for an exclusive interview in which she claimed that the film's producers asked her to keep quiet about her role. She has also taken center stage to speak out in a piece called, "The Real Black Swan" in Glamour Magazine.
Lane goes on to say, ""He asked if I would please not do any more interviews until after the Oscars because it was bad for Natalie's image, they were trying to create this image, this facade, really, that Natalie had done something extraordinary. Something that is pretty much impossible ... to become a professional ballerina in a year and half."
Now we covered this a while back when Sarah Lane first went to the press, but I'm now beginning to be sick of her 15 minutes of fame. I got a message for her. Sarah, nobody gives a shit anymore. In fact, we all now think you're just trying to ride the coattails of an Academy Award winning movie and somehow claim that you deserve the award instead. You were paid well for your work, you got to work with one of the best actresses in Hollywood in a movie that won big at the Oscars. Isn't that enough? Everyone knows that there was a use of a body double and while the dancing was spectacular, it isn't what won it. You should just STFU. Really.

Hasn't this lady ever heard of stunt doubles? Of course no one in hollywood does any of their own stunts/martial art/nude scenes anymore. Why does she expect to be any different then the thousands of paid doubles out there?
I could not agree with you any more as I for one am totally sick of her.
She really needs to get over it. I understand wanting credit for your work, but she GOT credit. Everyone knows Natalie Portman isn't a professional ballerina, but she did work damn hard, and she deserves every bit of that Oscar. There are no Oscars for ballerina stand-ins. This whole thing is ridiculous, and she needs to shut her damn mouth. She's just making a fool of herself.
I'd agree that I'm sick and tired of the topic, but rather than singling out Sarah, I save my frustration for Darren Aronofsky, Natalie Portman, Mila Kunis, and Benjamin Millepied, who have all gone out of their way to diminish Sarah's contribution and to overstate Natalie's dancing in the film. They should let it bloody go. If they just said, "hey, you're right, Sarah was the stunt double, did most of the actual dancing you see, and we're grateful for her contribution", then the story would have ended there. But they persist on perpetuating the illusion that Natalie did most of the dancing (e.g. comments to the effect of "Natalie did 90% of the dancing shots"). Frankly, if they just acknowledged Sarah in the film's credits in the first place, it never would have been a story.
As soon as Darren, Natalie, Mila, and Benjamin stop perpetuating the illusion of how much of the dancing Natalie did, the sooner Sarah will shut up. But until they do, I think Sarah should stick to her guns and demand recognition for what she did.

how do you do?
I think Portman and her team lied for award and now academy didn't do anything so they didn't accept Sara.
