Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at 11:01PM Justin Long's Indie Flick 'Lumpy' Has Started Shooting
When baby faced actor Justin Long isn't starring in mediocre romantic comedies like Going the Distance (just imagine how bad it would've been if Jason Sudeikis and Charlie Day weren't in it) or pitching computers for Apple, he tends to display his more impressive acting range playing quirky or straight-laced characters in dramas and lesser known films. Long's current project, an independent comedy called Lumpy will be his next under the radar role to help showcase that talent.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, writer/director Ted Koland's debut film Lumpy has just started production on location in Minnesota.
In Lumpy, the premise follows Long's character Scott, a young man whose wedding has just been cancelled after the unexpected death of his buddy, who was the wild one among his group of friends/the title character Lumpy. Deeply saddened by the loss of a close friend and the postponement of his honeymoon, Scott returns to his hometown of Minneapolis to bury his friend. Unfortunately, during the funeral more of Lumpy's secrets come to light, and Scott soon realizes the two of them weren't that close and begins to reevaluate his own past.
Jess Weixler and Michael Landes co-star with Long in a movie that seems a little similar to the plot of Death at a Funeral , only with a friend as the focus instead of a family member. I'm also guessing Lumpy will be more of a drama/comedy than a laugh out loud comedy. Either way. if it's good it could generate more buzz and lead to larger film opportunities for Koland.
No word on when Lumpy is expected to premiere.

After delivering a wholly underrated romantic comedy in the form of Going the Distance with Justin Long and Drew Barrymore, director Nanette Burstein (right) is heading back into romantic territory, but with drama this time. Risky Biz reports Burstein will be at the helm of Unforgiving World, which was written by Nicole Holofcener (director of Please Give, Friends with Money)
