'Thor' and 'Captain America' Sequels Confirmed

In an interview with Disney's D23 magazine, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige revealed that plans are already in the works for Thor and Captain American sequels (even though neither film is actually out yet) and gave a glimpse into Marvel's plans for the foreseeable future - which essentially boiling down to giving every viable Marvel character their own film.

According to Feige:

"Thor will go off into a new adventure and Captain America will continue to explore the modern world in another film of his own. We hope that holds true for the characters appearing in that film - Black Widow, Hawkeye and the spy organization, S.H.I.E.L.D. - all of whom are more than worthy and capable of carrying their own films. And, we've got a lot of other characters we're prepping and getting ready for film debuts: the world of martial arts, these great cosmic space fantasies, Dr. Strange and the magic side of the Marvel Universe. There are many, many stories to be mined."

It's certainly an ambitious agenda for Marvel, but so far it seems to be paying off for them. We may be headed for an over-saturation point for superhero movies though, especially when Marvel starts dipping into their lesser-known properties. It also seems like a bold move to start planning for sequel of movies that haven't even been released yet - though it seems unlikely that either film will tank at the box office, you never know just how well these films will actually d.
