Saturday, April 23, 2011 at 7:01AM Emile Hirsch Joins Oliver Stone's 'Savages'
About a month ago GTBP reported that Taylor Kitsch and Aaron Johnson would be joining Oliver Stone's next film Savages. Now the cast has grown even bigger and more star studded as Emile Hirsch is now attached to the formidable list that already includes Blake Lively, Salma Hayek and Benicio Del Toro, according to Variety.

Variety also reports that John Travolta and Uma Thurman are also in talks to sign on to the film. Shane Salerno adapted the screenplay from the Don Winslow novel about two young Laguna Beach pot dealers (Kitsch, Johnson), who hatch a crazy scheme to get their kidnapped girlfriend (Lively) back from the drug cartel that has been trying to take over their business.
It's unclear which character Stone and the studio have in mind for Hirsch right now, but Travolta is expected to play the role of a DEA agent and Thurman will play the mother of one of the pot dealers. Production is slated to begin later this summer, with the plan that Savages will hit theaters sometime in 2012.
I've been following the development of Savages since I first read about it, and it's an encouraging sign that such a big name cast is attached to star. I've wanted to see more performances by the young actors: Hirsch, Kitsch, Johnson and the insanely gorgeous Blake Lively, so needless to say I'm psyched for Savages.
