Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 3:05AM In Theatres Soon: Joseph Gordon-Levitt is 'Hesher'

Hesher starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt as it's title character hits theatres May 13, 2011. With this release just around the corner, I couldn't be more excited. Joseph Gordon-Levitt (500 Days of Summer, 10 Things I Hate About You, Inception) stars as Hesher, a lonely, greasy haired metal head who loves to play with fire and hates the world. When Hesher meets T.J. ( Devin Brochu ), a young boy who is struggling with the loss of his mother and a bully at school, he helps his family cope with their loss in some very peculiar ways.
Although, Hesher got mixed reviews when it premiered at Sundance Film Festival in 2010, I believe it looks like a promising movie. With it's supporting cast including Natalie Portman as Nicole, a local grocery store worker who T.J. and Hesher stumble upon and Rainn Wilson as Paul ( T.J.'s Father) it seems to be a strong ensemble of talented actors.
This is director/writer Spencer Susser's first feature film. He previously has directed a few short films and documentaries winning him three awards for his short titled I Love Sarah Jane. Hesher was also nominated for the grand jury prize at Sundance but lost to Debra Granik's Winter's Bone.
Here is an interview with Spencer Susser discussing Hesher from the 2010 Sundance Film Festival.

This is not a train in still in which you may feel forward when another train goes by. It is the truth that we've all grown up. And we become different.
You cannot go wrong with any of this work. I am such a big fan of it. You will not be disappointed when you view it. It is one of the best of the year.
