Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 10:54PM Tarantino's Western Gets A Little Closer, Maybe

Cinemablend posted this morning that Quentin Tarantino's script for his long awaited Western, which he apparently refers to as a "Southern" (not quite sure what that means, and I'm not intrigued enough at the moment to look it up) is complete, and after a quick unofficial handwriting analysis it has been deemed....more than likely authentic. The title on the finished script reads 'Django Unchained' and there are a couple of theories behind the use of Django in the title, ranging from a remake of Sukiyaki Western Django to an homage of the Django subgenre of spaghetti westerns, spawned by Sergio Corbucci's Django.
Whatever the case may be I have been waiting for a decade to hear that Tarantino is going forward with his Western, so the script being complete is very exciting news. IMDB does not list Django Unchained, but does list Kill Bill: vol. 3, which is just about as exciting, and now I will more than likely find myself looking for a projected release date for both.
I have always been a fan of movies and films, and I started enjoying films more critically about the time Tarantino was taking off with Pulp Fiction (it was actually a few days prior to the release of Pulp Fiction when a buddy basically forced me to watch Reservoir Dogs, and I can't thank him enough for it), so he more or less set the benchmark for anything I watched in the '90s, and I have been a fan of his ever since.
I did not have the intention of sounding like a fanboy when I started this, but that is how it ended up sounding, and I guess that is how I really feel about Mr. Tarantino. I could spout on for while on this topic, and eventually the Robert Rodriguez card will be played and then I won't shut up.
