Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at 5:58PM 'Trollhunter' Out on VOD and Gets a Warm Homecoming

The trailer for this exquisite looking little film popped up on my radar several months back and I have been looking forward to it ever since. It finally released on VOD last Friday and one review gave it a high mark and said pretty much everything I was hoping it would say and unfortunately, a little more, but that's fine, it added to my already curious appreciation of the story.
Trollhunter (The Troll Hunter) is a mockumentary about a documentary film crew that follows, what is more than likely, the world's foremost hunter of trolls. There is more meat to it than that, but find out for yourself. The story sounds really fun, and that's conveyed in the trailer quite well. The trailer also provides a look at the special effects presenting the trolls, and in one word, brilliant. They look to blow one's mind the way District 9 blew people's minds (at least it did mine). A simple and effective story, with excellent visuals. Keep it simple, stupid.
Beings this is a mockumentary in the way of The Blair Witch Project, or Cloverfield (wouldn't you think that falls in the mockumentary genre?), so there is no doubt going to be a fair amount of shaky camera cinematography, and if you are one of the people that could look passed that and enjoyed the films anyway, check out Trollhunter.

I am assuming the same fighting techniques will apply with trolls as with the undead. Except I'm unsure if merely revoking religion is going to be enough to gain an upper hand. We shall see.
