Sunday, May 15, 2011 at 11:02PM Mark Wahlberg & David O. Russell to Collaborate, Again.
Are Mark Wahlberg and David O. Russell connected at the hip or are they simply brothers from a different mother? Any way you slice it, the dynamic duo from The Fighter have worked on the same set so many times they're leaving other so-called actor/director combos in the dust.
Before, Russell and Wahlberg reconnect for the big screen adaptation of the popular video game Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, they'll dive into The Silver Linings Playbook together, Vulture reports.

In the movie biz it's all about who you know, and in this case, Wahlberg was able to unseat pretty boy Bradley Cooper as the leading man opposite of possibly Anne Hathaway in The Silver Linings Playbook. The film is adapted from a novel (what a shocker) by Matthew Quick.
Vulture describes the story:
"A delusional former high school teacher (Wahlberg?) who's just been released into custody of his mom. Believing that he's only been away for a few months instead of the four years he just spent in a mental institution, the teacher sets about wooing his ex-wife."
Question: Does Wahlberg have the acting chops to pull this off?
This isn't exactly your average Marky Mark movie, and even under Russell's skilled guidance at bringing out the best in his performers I just can't imagine Wahlberg succeeding in this type of role. If the former mental patient is a man of few words, soft-spoken or just has to look upset and confused, maybe Wahlberg proves me wrong with a standout performance in The Silver Linings Playbook.
Somewhere, in a secret, hidden lair Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio are at the drawing board planning their next project in order to outdo the rising number of Wahlberg/Russell collaborations.

The Sinatra biopic perhaps?
