Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at 3:00AM Chris Pine In Talks To Join 'Mud'

Chris Pine isn't known for his talenting acting, or seems like he would even know how to do a film without involving action, but he is in talks to play the lead character in Jeff Nichols (Shotgun Stories, Take Shelter) new drama Mud. You might know Chris Pine from such films as Star Trek or Unstoppable, but he also starred in the Play Farragut North which is being adapted into George Clooney's The Ides Of March.
Mud follows two 14 year old boys who come across a fugitive named Mud, played by Pine. The boys have to help Mud escape from an island in Mississippi. Mud ends up teaching the boys a few things along the way and is being compared to Huckleberry Finn. Pine is just in talks to join the film, and the news about this is coming from Cannes. If Mud does get mad, I am interested to see if Pine could pull off playing a role in a non-blockbuster film.
