Friday, May 20, 2011 at 3:00AM ...We All Scream For No More Scream

Now I haven't seen Scream 4, because after I watched Sceam 3 I wished I had stopped at Scream 2, which I watched simply because the original Scream was badass. This movie series started with such class and style, and has just gotten so tired. I'm still having a hard time grasping the idea of living in a world with a Scream 5, let alone a Scream 6, the ultimate goal of this wrecking train. Movieline reported that Harvey Weinstein is pretty much expecting the sequel. The way I understand it is that he sounds excited about it. I just don't get it. Was Scream 4 that good? I actually want to know, but I don't want to put in the time to find out.
Kevin Williamson is a good writer, and he had the right ideas at the right times. I was not a fan, but Dawson's Creek did pretty okay, and some of his early titles are fun, and even spawned a knock-off here and there (Disturbing Behavior being the one that jumps in my head), but what has he done for us lately? The Vampire Diaries? Thanks, but no thanks.
And then there is Wes Craven. You could say he definitely has a type, and that type is just not in as high demand as it once was, but he still makes a fun picture. That's a lie. I haven't even bothered to watch any of his recent stuff including Red Eye which boasted Cillian Murphy and guilty pleasure Rachel McAdams as the headliners. His record ultimately speaks for itself though.
I'm just a bit upset that there is money being thrown at a dead series, and that money could be used to make something people really want to watch.

I am excited for Scream 5. Scream is the only series that I can think of that doesn't deal with supernatural killers or supernatural entities as the culprit. It's refreshing to see a revival of 90s slasher flicks made with the mentality of 00s horror. I'd rather have this then a Friday The 13th remake/sequel.
I don't agree at all. Scream 4 is actually really great, and Kevin Williamson's Vampire Diaries is not that bad. As the previous comment stats, I also think we're in a time period where supernatural entity rules the world of thriller/horror movies, and seeing a real human killer on screen won't do no harm. Especially when the movie is as well-written as Scream 4 is (wich is not the case of some "new" material, for example the recent Insidious, who clearly doesn't have anything to offer). Now, if the ideas about a possible Scream 5 are bad, then OK, let's get over the franchise, but if they do worth a shot, then I don't see a problem with that.
Stop posting negative stories about the Scream franchise. You don't have to like it, but your potentially ruining it for those of us that are fans and that love all of them. So move on!
I can't take you seriously because you don't proofread your articles for errors before posting. Secondly, you haven't even watched Scream 4, so you can't make a judgement on an entire series without having watched the entire series. Amateur.
I don't understand the point of this article? You don't want to watch any more screams and you don't want the fifth to be made and you claim the franchise is dead? DUDE YOU HAVEN'T even seen scream 4! How can you write this article without seeing the movie?
You're calling the franchise dead and you've never seen it. That makes a lot of sense. Same with REd Eye. Why are you writing about it if you've never seen it.
Good writing, bro
This article is a total waste of time...there is no news to report here. Just some some guys opinion that no one really cares about. He says "I'm just a bit upset that there is money being thrown at a dead series, and that money could be used to make something people really want to watch." What would like them to throw that money at...another Paranormal Activity? Now I am a fan of the Scream series...and I wasn't exactly Thrilled with Scream 4. The movie felt rushed and with no good reason. It wasn't as if they were trying to push another sequel on the tail of a successful first film. Hopefully this time around they don't rush the movie into production with a lackluster script.
You should not speak for us because you are dead wrong. We All Scream for More Scream!! Can't wait for a fifth because the fourth was awesome!
yeah it might be kinda played out but the convoluted story lends itself to being played out, where as movies like saw and friday the 13th grasp at straws and introduce a new main character every sequel, and yeah id rather see another scream than another saw, posession movie, or anything shot with a handycam coigh cough (paranormal activity)
