Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at 10:20AM 'X-Men: First Class' Director Matthew Vaughn Already Discussing Sequel Ideas

The June 3rd debut of X-Men: First Class is so close I can hardly stand waiting any longer. The franchise's newest director Matthew Vaughn with his Professor X mind reading capabilities can evidently feel my pain and has taken it a step further by thinking about the future. Even before the opening scene for First Class is shown to any of us, he's already moved on to talking about the next movie in-depth.
Vaughn, while out promoting First Class revealed some new ideas, like a possible opening sequence for the sequel, according to reports by Hitflix and Movieweb. He discussed one idea in great detail for the opening (Prediction: It'll never happen).
"I've got some ideas for the opening next film," he stated. "I thought it would be fun to open with the Kennedy Assassination, and we reveal that the magic bullet was controlled by Magneto. That would explain the physics of it, and we see that he's pissed off because Kennedy took all the credit for saving the world and mutants weren't even mentioned. And we could go from there."
It's certainly a cool and creative idea and it fits the film's time frame, but can you imagine the can of worms it would open by including the Kennedy assassination? I guarantee someone out there would take offense and consider the scene to be in poor taste.
Vaughn also admitted there would be a new character coming into the fold by joining Xavier's team of mutants.
"We will have only one more new character. I won't say who he...I won't say who he or she is. But we will only be bringing one more new character in," he explained. "Because, I think, as Professor X is in a wheelchair, Magneto needs to have a nemesis he can fight with. Someone that will be his equal. I know who it is. It would be nice if I could say something, but I can't."
Let the speculation begin! Wolverine, maybe? Cyclops? It beats me...
Rest assured, Vaughn won't be spilling the beans on this one any time soon. In the meantime, I can return to impatiently waiting for X-Men: First Class to arrive.

Interesting idea for sure.
I guess Matthew Vaughn wants to take Forrest Gump's "I gotta pee" scene to the next level.
So far, judging from the trailers, I like how this is working the X Men into an alternate history. So having a trilogy that takes place in the past seems like a neat idea.
This sounds sooooo cool. I was excited to see First Class but now I'm even more excited for what I can only presume will be X-men: Second Period. or whatever works lol
Matthew is such a great director. He has made some awesome movies. You cannot go wrong with any of his movies. orlando insurance lawyer
