Thursday, May 26, 2011 at 12:12AM Jessica Biel, Kate Beckinsale & Bill Nighy Round Out Cast for the 'Total Recall' Reboot
The second go-around for Total Recall just got a whole lot prettier tonight, as Collider has confirmed reports that both Jessica Biel and Kate Beckinsale have officially joined Len Wiseman's reboot. The two beauties will serve as female love interests of the film's main character Doug Quaid/Hauser played by Colin Farrell, while veteran actor Bill Nighy (Underworld series) will reprise the role of the resistance leader Quatto in this newest installment of the Phillip K. Dick inspired classic.

Beckinsale a.k.a Mrs. Len Wiseman will play the role of Quaid's real life wife Lori, previously held by Sharon Stone in Paul Verhoeven's original Total Recall, who betrays him. Luckily, Beckinsale will share an intimate moment on the big screen with Farrell instead of the former Governator of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger. Meanwhile, the plan is to have Biel fill the role of Rachel (newly renamed in the reboot), the woman Quaid's alter ego Hauser meets in his spy life.
The premise of this Total Recall, as we've mentioned in previous posts has absolutely nothing to do with Mars. Quaid is a factory worker in a place called New Shanghai, who believes he might live an alternate life as a spy. The villain, played by the star of the hit series Breaking Bad Bryan Cranston, Vilos Cohaagen is the leader of a rival state called Euromerica, and is secretly planning to invade New Shanghai. This leaves Quaid with a difficult conundrum of figuring out which side he's on.
I've been following the development of this movie for months now, and am mostly satisfied with the casting. I could've gone with either Biel or Beckinsale, not both. They're too similar, and to me Eva Mendes would been a far better choice for Rachel. But hey, at least those involved in the casting process got it right with Farrell and Cranston, as the two main dudes who will likely do battle in the end anyway.
Shooting on Wiseman's Total Recall is slated to begin next week on location in Toronto with plans of having the film wrapped up by August 2012.

I've not kept up with developments on this - so I can be surprised when it's finally released - but I DO like what I find out about this and how different it is from the Veerhoven's "neo brutal" version and/or the previous scripts from the 70's and 80's.
Excellent write-up tends to make continual development, many thanks discuss, the particular deposition regarding information is always to retain studying, consideration will be the beginning of success.
