Thursday, May 26, 2011 at 4:15AM 'Lion King 3D' Re-release Coming This Fall to Theaters - New Trailer Released
Lion King is my favorite Disney film of all time. In fact, I'd even go as far as to say it's my favorite animated film, however, I'm not a huge fan of gouging loyal customers by re-releasing films (aka Lucasfilm). Disney is looking to cash in on the 3D phenomenon by re-releasing some of their most popular animated films in 3D starting with Lion King.

Here's my problem with this. First, in a time where the industry needs creativity more than anything else, releasing the same exact movie just makes the problem worse. Second, we all know turning something into 3D which wasn't originally filmed with 3D in mind looks terrible after the conversion. So unless they are going to redraw every single frame in 3D, I think this is just an easy way for Disney to make some money from parents who supported this film in the beginning.
So if you're one of those people who are going to take their kids to watch this, do yourself a favor. Rent the DVD and watch it at home. Certain movies ARE better in 2D. Don't support this bastardization of a classic.
Oh yeah, here's the trailer:

My too))
I dno't know how it in 3D, but in 2D is was wonderful film
It feels like only yesterday that I bought The Lion King DVD..
What is this "gouging ala Lucasfilm" bullcrap? Disney started the practice of rereleasing their animated classics every seven years to keep them fresh in the minds of the public and to introduce them to those who never saw them the first time. This is the same idea as it introduces a younger generation to the theatrical experience of seeing a movie as well as maybe introducing the movie to those who may have never seen it in theaters OR on video. Plus it's visuals are enhanced via the 3D process. And what are you talking about "redrawing every single frame in 3D"? WHAT? Do you mean remake it as a 3D COMPUTER ANIMATED movie? Then you'd probably complain they batardized it that way. It'll be the same movie, on the big screen, with an added sense of depth to the visuals creating a newer theatrical experience for the film. This will hopefully introduce a new generation to seeing movies theatrically AND allow them to continue to MAKE movies so you can rip-and-burn them and watch them for free.
Another idiot this blog pays in pizza to write stupid, STUPID opinion pieces.
Excellent write-up tends to make continual development, many thanks discuss, the particular deposition regarding information is always to retain studying, consideration will be the beginning of success.

Actually Disney already did the 3D rerelease with Beauty and the Beast last year and it was beautiful.
I would happily pay to watch my favourite films on the bigscreen every couple of years. It's why I have the DVD, so I can watch and enjoy it over and over.
I wish Disney still kept up the tradition of showing it's best films every couple of years. Maybe each time they bring one 'out of the vault' which is what I assume this new tradition is with making them 3D before releasing them on Blu-Ray.
And as for originality, despite the controversy over The Lion King, Disney is STILL one of the most creative and original film making companies.
I am glad to see this movie being made in 3D. The kids are definitely going to enjoy this so much. I am such a big fan of all of these movies. actos bladder cancer
