Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at 10:49AM Wes Anderson's 'Moonrise Kingdom' Acquired By Focus Features
Wes Anderson's ( Rushmore, The Darjeeling Limited, The Royal Tenenbaums ) latest project Moonrise Kingdom has been picked up by Focus features, who has brought such great films to life, including: Lost In Translation, 21 Grams and Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind. Anderson is directing the film and co-wrote with Roman Coppola ( The Darjeeling Limited ). Filming has begun, and Focus Feature International will begin International sales at the Cannes Film Festival this month.
Moonrise Kingdom is set on an off coast island in 1960's New England. The film follows a young boy and girl who are madly in love and decide to run away together. Different parts of town split up to search for the young couple and the town turns upside down on their quest.
Recently, I have reported on the stellar cast of The Ides Of March which is due out this year, but Moonrise Kingdom gives it a run for it's money. The phenomenal cast includes: Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, Bill Murray, Jason Schwartzman, Tilda Swinton and Frances Mcdormand. Owen Wilson is also rumored to appear in the project as well. I would not be surprised if Wilson had a cameo or a small role in this film, because he as well as Murray and Schwartzman, collaborate often with Anderson.
Moonrise Kingdom hits theatres 2012, and should be another classic Wes Anderson film.
