Alice Braga is the Latest Star to Join Neil Blompkamp's 'Elysium'

District 9 writer/director Neil Blompkamp is stacking the deck with an impressive cast for his sophmore effort Elysium.  The upcoming project, which already boasts superstar Matt Damon has added the female lead from previous sci-fi films Predators and Repo Men, actress Alice Braga as the film's newest player, Deadline reports.

In addition to Damon and Braga, who possibly play the love interests of one another in Elysium, the cast includes Jodie Foster, Sharlto Copley (District 9, The A-Team), William Fichtner (Prison Break) and Brazilian star Wagner Moura (Elite Squad).  Damon will obviously serve as the film's lead and it's been reported Moura will portray a villian, though where the rest of the cast fits this story is still unknown. 

Elysium is set 150 years in the future and according to the synopis on IMDB, aliens invade the Earth with hope of finding peace and living like humans do.  I also read elsewhere that the film takes place in outer space, so who knows what to expect yet?  The director has been extremely tight-lipped about the premise of his latest creation. 

Elysium is supposed to arrive in theaters on March 1, 2013.  No official word has been released on when production will began yet.  For now, we'll have to be satisfied with knowing who the cast members are.
