Saturday, June 18, 2011 at 1:07AM 'Alvin and The Chipmunks' Trailer Encourages You To "Munk Yourself"

The last time someone told me to "Munk" myself I almost.. Well, actually I've never been told to "Munk" myself, ever. The Oxford English dictionary defines "Munk" as a non-existent word, whereas Urbandictionary.com describes "Munk" as something which I'm not comfortable outlining in a movie blog.
That's why I'm somewhat confused by the decision to use this as the tagline/website address for the latest Alvin and the Chipmunks film. Tentatively subtitled "Chip-wrecked" and I say ‘tentatively’ because I hope to god that they don’t call it that, the film will follow the “Munks” as they go on a cruise (I expect) and then get shipwrecked on a desert island (this is pure speculation).
The trailer starts with a Titanic reference; firstly because that joke was funny the first hundred times and secondly because there’s nothing like current edgy pop culture references to get the die hard “Munk” fans going. The trailer then continues to insult your intelligence and anyone who ever watched this show as a child.
Don't expect any fireworks, or to be impressed... or to enjoy this, at all.
Kill me now.

Alvin and the Chipmunks can go get munked as far as I'm concerned.
I think you all are missing the point this is not for you 25- 35 year olds it is for kids. My son LOVES these movies and that who they are suppose to be for. Dont forget
I do appreciate that these movies are for kids, but am still unsure as to why movie producers think it's okay to use entendres for the 'f' word when speaking to a youthful audience. I'm pretty sure that if my son told me to go "munk" myself he'd get a spanking, have his mouth washed out with soap and get told to sit in the corner for about three days.
What's slogan comes next? "This Chip is Munkin' Off the Chain!"?
"They're here to Munk you up!"?
"Shut the Munk Up!"
No thanks.
Words are words. In the Disney cartoon show Recess. The saying (" This whomps!" )was used. The Smurfs utter the word smurf. Chipmunks are no different. Get your munk on or munk yourself are harmless.
The only true hurtful words come from Obnoxious Trolls who wish to get rid of something that has been around for over 50 years! Too bad. Those Trolls have tried two times before and failed in doing so!
The Chipmunks weren't made for them. They were made for those who wish for; a little, sweet , and harmless adventure to take their family to. A parent can handle the squeaky voices. They have enough of their own.
Most of thease critics chose a single, self-centered life style! They wont have kids. Or care to have any! In fact they hate Children. The Chipmunks shall make more movies; till the trolls Soil Their pants and Die!
Phantanos: "Get your munk on", "Whomps", and "Smurf" used as slang are not in any way intended to be used in place of the word Fuck. If words are words why don't these cartoon characters just run around telling everyone to go fuck themselves? Do you believe that children should be exposed to anything and everything as early as possible?
Also, please enlighten me in regards to your rant on trolls, as it has gone way, way, way over my head. Who is your audience? Do you feel like you have reached them with a strong and well articulated argument?
My audience? They know who they are. I'm addressing the lowly Trolls out there. The ones who see fit to berate and belittle anything that wasn't intended for them! Who left them as dictators of what is & isn't entertainment! They are in the minority. If you don't like it. Don't watch it. You have that choice! But you don't have the choice of what others choose! From the movie sales alone; there's evidence that the rest of the world disagrees with your view. As for the example of the word you so crudely used as an aurgument. The fact that you bother to bring it up; and even type it out. Clearly places you among the ones I am addressing..
Don't listen to me i'm just an embittered cynic, but I do reserve the right to dislike the Chipmunk movies. I enjoy quality childrens entertainment but as far as i'm concerned this isn't quality.
I'm not sure debates can be won with name calling, but perhaps the rules are different when communicating on a blog? For example, when someone has an opinion that differs from your own, they are now automatically a troll?
Also, I'm surprised you are so offended by the "f" word Phantanos. I thought that after your "words are words" argument you would be more open minded. Apparently I was wrong.
Watch what you like good sir. Allow your children to watch and say and do what they like as well. I'm not sure that I ever said that I had a problem with that. I just said that my child would not be allowed to watch it.
And if that makes me a Muggle or a Troll or any other derogatory term you see fit to call me, well...
Munk you.
