Thursday, June 2, 2011 at 8:00PM Hulu And Miramax Sitting In A Tree...

Yesterday I got home from work and sat down to watch, Solitary, the one reality show that doesn't make me want to vomit, and I don't mind watching (It really is quite fun. No alliances. No scheming. Just good ol' fashioned mind over matter, and the same lame quality participants save a few), but I digress, so, I sat down and browsed to Hulu, for those of you who have turned away from traditional cable and do your viewing online this is probably a staple in your viewing diet, and the first thing I see is a huge promo for Miramax. At first I was skeptical, then I clicked. Then I was excited. A few months back Hulu made available the Criterion Collection and that was exciting enough, now some of the major titles that put Miramax on the map are available to HuluPlus subscribers (the catch).
I haven't checked, but I would imagine that these titles are available on Netflix as well (I just checked, and yes, they are), but it just shows that Hulu is going to be a major player in the online streaming revolution (and I have also found that Hulu tends to stream better than Netflix). The list of titles includes, but is definitely not limited to Trainspotting, Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, Muriel's Wedding, The Crow, Clerks, Swingers, and wait for it...Scream and Scream 2. As with Netflix I'm sure the catalog is going to continue to grow exponentially as the weeks go on.
For those of you looking to move away from traditional cable HuluPlus is a very good place to start the transition process. And if you are really serious about moving away from cable there is an awesome little device called a Roku that supports Netflix and HuluPlus subscribers along with a slew of free content.
This is not an advertisement, but may as well be. Let the streaming begin.

Great info.
Why thank you Gimano.
Interesting information. I had to check it out for myself but then I realized that this is an advertisement and I would rather watch movies in 1080p on a screen larger than 22". Thanks though for the misdirect. I don't think Roku is worth it, it seems like Hulu Plus isn't worth it. It's easier to watch tv shows on demand through cable. Don't you think so? Sadly, I'm disinclined to acquiesce to your request.
To each their own Barbossa. And apparently I don't think so, because I haven't had or needed cable for several years. Thanks for you two cents though.
I actually do all my internet video streaming through my PS3. Since it transmits up to my TV on 1080p, it tends to make streaming just a bit better. I also use PlayOn! through a media PC, so while it's quite a few steps to get things to the TV, it still works rather well and opens up a ton of online content. I haven't used cable in a long time in result.
Streaming is happening everywhere. There's not much need for cable TV. Also, watching online doesn't have as many annoying ads! My newest favorite show is Workaholics, but I don't have cable so I just watch it free at workaholicsnow.com
