Thursday, June 2, 2011 at 10:48AM Spanish Trailer For 'Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid' Sequel
Call me ignorant but I wasn't even aware of this, a new trailer arrived today for a sequel named Blackthorn to the classic Western, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. The film will follow the duo years after the original in Bolivia with Butch (now calling himself Blackthorn) trying to get home.

I don't want to rain on any parades but doesn't this ruin the cliffhanger ending of the original, I always assumed they were dead but there you go.
The trailer is in Spanish so it's hard to gleen much except that Butch is older and there are alot of different people shooting other people for undiscernable reasons. The Crying Game's Stephen Rea turns up and more people get shot whilst the rest of the trailer lacks alot of Sundance Kid played by Padraic Delaney (The Tudors).
I hope to god they haven't messed this up.
'Blackthorn' is set to release around April and is directed by Mateo Gil who wrote the original Vanilla Sky

I wouldn't call it a direct sequel to the MOVIE "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid", it's just a western that explores the myth of what happened to Cassidy after Bolivia. There's a lot of cinematic possibilities with that premise and this looks like it's interestingly taking them.
I'm nothing if not a pessimist
