Thursday, June 30, 2011 at 7:04AM 'Lamb of God': Diablo Cody's Directorial Debut
Looking to get behind the camera is Diablo Cody and she'll be helming Lamb of God, a script that she wrote for Mandate Pictures. This will be her first time directing after having written a few notable and prolific works.
Here's a quick synopsis:
The comedy follows a young conservative religious woman who loses her faith after a plane crash, decides to go to Las Vegas to live the life of a sinner, and on her journey finds her way back to her faith.
Comingsoon.net reports on Mandate president Nathan Kahane (and executive producer on forthcoming Lamb of God) taking the opportunity to work with Diablo Cody and putting the project on the fast track:
Kahane said, "Having been in the trenches with Diablo and Mason on 'Juno' and 'Young Adult,' we immediately jumped at the opportunity to partner with them again. It's an honor to be a part of Diablo's transition as a director."
Lamb of God marks the third collaboration with Cody, Novick and Mandate after their successful partnerships on Juno and Young Adult, which will be released by Paramount Pictures. Juno, directed by Jason Reitman and written by Cody, garnered a host of accolades, including an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay (Diablo Cody) and three Academy Award nominations for Best Motion Picture (Lianne Halfon, Mason Novick and Russell Smith, Producers), Best Actress, and Best Director. The $227 million box-office and critical sensation was released by Fox Searchlight in late 2007."
Diablo Cody can next be seen in Young Adult, a film directed by Jason Reitman and starring Charlize Theron and Patrick Wilson. She's also the writer behind the much maligned Jennifer's Body and has received much higher critical praise as creator of the Showtime dramedy United States of Tara, starring Toni Collette as Tara Gregson, "a woman [who] struggles to find a balance between her dissociative identity disorder and raising a dysfunctional family."
