Are monkeys the latest fad? Well, Fox must think so.
Fox’s ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes’ won’t be in theaters until August 5th, but the studio has other “monkey business” to take care of, an animated version of King Kong.
We have seen dozens of versions of the story about the gorilla from “Skull Island” who dies in the “Big Apple”, from the original classic in 1933 to Peter Jackson’s blockbuster in 2005, but the “new” story will be told from Kong’s point of view and it will take place in modern day.
Since it will be an animated film, does that mean that Christian Magalhaes and Bob Snow will rewrite the story with a happier ending? If so, what's going to happen between the gorilla and Ann Darrow? Didn’t he die while trying to protect her?
It just sounds like a lot of work for a movie that doesn’t really need to be made right now.

I know the guys in the pitch meeting were like "...And then Kong falls from the Burj Dubai...in 3-D!!!"
