Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at 12:31PM Galifianakis Reveals Odd New Twist in 'Hangover III' Plot?

Early speculation on possible plotlines and locations for a Hangover III movie became a hot topic last week. Today an interview with Zach Galifianakis over at Rolling Stone magazine reveals the pudgy comedian has already been contacted about the Wolf Pack's next go-around, and it's definitely not what those of us at the peanut gallery expected.
"They want to do a Hangover III... I'm getting fricking phone calls already," Galifianakis said.
According to Galifianakis, the Wolfpack will do away with the whole pre-wedding hijinx in the next film. This time they'll reunite to bust his character Alan out of the mental institution he's been residing at as a result of all the mischief they caused in Thailand, and it's up to Stu, Phil and Doug (Yeah cause he's funny) to rescue him.
If this turns out to be true, at least they're breaking away (BTW Breaking Away = classic movie) from the same formula of the first two, though I'm stunned the Wolfpack won't be scheming to help Doug escape from the institution. They managed to stash away the unfunny, non-contributing Doug in the first two movies, but the quirky Alan is much more nuthouse worthy. Besides Doug's wife is super hot and he sat out of the Thailand and Vegas adventures, so no one is going to buy that he had a nervous breakdown.
To me a trilogy is awful idea unless they find away to resist the urge to reuse the jokes from the first movie like they did with the Hangover II.
So yay or nay to the possible plot for the Hangover III?

If they make such a drastic shift from their, uhhhh, semi tried and true formula, I'm game. What made the first Hangover so great was the characters, so if they can recreate it, it'd be worth seeing. And a mental institution would explain another hangover with lost memory (the availability of meds there...), and give them a new reason to retrace their steps than to find a missing person.
I don't know if I buy into the fact of breaking out Alan. I could buy into Alan drugging the guys and forcing them into breaking out Chow maybe. Makes more sense since they could leave out Doug from being involved in on all the craziness.
the third should be about breaking chow out of jail. i think chow should be moved from thailand to his home town(place name of city here) so he can be close to his family. that way we can meet chow's parents and there craziness. have allen visit him and meet chow's family. then have allen convice the wolfpack to breakout chow. also have the wolfpack including doug take over chow's biz for awhile (at least until he's out of jail). for them to make money to get supplies have phil convince stu that since he loves hookers so much why not become one. also this way allen could fuck up the plans for the breakout,
or if they go with breaking out allen from a mental institution you could keep the same things except chow wouldn't be in it. but have stu still become a hooker to make money, and throw doug into the mix. since he's the guy that keeps them from getting too out of control have him react to every crazy idea phil and stu come up with. you could also have allen take over chow's biz and since the phil, stu, and doug are friends with allen (who will fuck up something big) all the enemies that he has made will now be theres. idk if this is a good idea but have doug get raped for some odd reason i think that would play out while ( while meaning funny) they could also to make money they could dress up like cops and convicate drugs and sell. i think that the wolfpack trying to deal drugs would be funny as hell.
