Thursday, June 9, 2011 at 10:10AM Jesse Eisenberg & Jake Gyllenhaal to Team as Magicians in 'Now You See Me'?

Jake Gyllenhaal was so good in the Source Code that playing a magician may be a tough act to follow, but that hasn't stopped the studio from offering him and fellow actor Jesse Eisenberg the lead roles in Now You See Me, Variety claims.
Now You See Me is the latest project of Clash of the Titans director Louis Letterier, where the story revolves around a team of magicians who perform big heists during their shows and are being heavily pursued by the F.B.I. The biggest trick of all coming when they give the stolen money to the audience Robin Hood-style.
With Eisenberg and Gyllenhaal pegged as the headlining stars for this one, offers for unspecified roles have been extended to Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Olivia Wilde (Ooh la la!) and Melanie Laurent as well. The heist flick will be produced by Star Trek screenwriters Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, while the script comes from Boaz Yakin (Prince of Persia) and Edward Ricourt.
I dig magician themed movies, especially if they're anywhere near as entertaining as The Prestige was. Given the box office success of the Harry Potter franchise, I know Potter is probably more of a sorcerer than a magician, there's obviously an established market for this genre.
Now You See me is slated for a 2014 theatrical release.
