Thursday, June 9, 2011 at 2:07PM Paul Walker May Be Cast in 'Terminator 5'

To be honest, not much can be said about Terminator 5 at this point. With the hiatus Arnold Schwarzenegger is taking to straighten out his life, everything about this film and the developments surrounding it are speculative. However, I feel a responsibility to report new rumors about casting so take this with a grain of salt, but it seems that producer Megan Ellison is hinting the project may just move forward with out him. As she moves forward, she's looking to cast some of the major roles.
It's rumored that Paul Walker will play Kyle Reese who is John Conner's father. This role was played by Michael Biehn previously. The link between Fast Five director Justin Lin and Paul Walker is clear but Walker's not considered to be the best actor. That being said, I respect helping out friends who helped you in the past.
The bigger news out of this is that Arnold Schwarzenegger might not be involved which would be a huge blow to the franchise still reeling from its terribly reviewed Terminator 4 film. It seems to me that fans would be willing to give Terminator another look if it marked the comeback of Schwarzenegger's acting career. But only time can tell.

It's rumored they want to go younger with this Terminator, so how does going from Anton Yelchin to Paul Walker achieve that? I really hope Lin doesn't ruin the franchise. On the bright side, Jeremy Wynia said Justin Lin's Fast Five was great (also to be taken with a grain of salt).
Well really the series NOW - given the later movies and the TV series - is all about the Humans VERSUS the TerminatorS(plural), so moving the one played by 'Ah-nold into the background is fine so long as they can make that "Humans At War For The Survival Of The Race" compelling. THAT'S what the fourth movie failed to do. The elements are there they just need to effectively change their focus.
I definitely believe paul walker will be great a kyle reese
i no what has been missing and what has really been behind the # 3 and 4 movies feeling like a gay sifi short..... i have 6 words for you JAMES CAMERON ( you can just repeat yourself 3 times and it sounds more compelling )
If the cost of the rights fell below 10 mil, he MIGHT, but given what he's said I really think he's done and moved on from the series. It may be too that they've already done the damage and have added things to the overarching story that he never either imagined or would have done, so if he came back he might find himself weighted down with things that have been in the 3rd and 4th movies that he'd have to carry over against his creative wishes just for continuity's sake. The series may well be long past the point that it could go with him and live.
It doesn't matter if Arnold is in it.
Megan Ellison needs to contact Josh Friedman and continue The Sarah Connor Chronicles with another season (I'm picturing HBO).
