The Starz Original Series 'Party Down' is Coming to Theaters Near YOU!

Party Down, despite a loyal fanbase, was cancelled after two seasons, each one consisting of only ten episodes. With a main cast that included Adam Scott, Lizzy Caplan, and Martin Starr — as well as guest stars like Kristen Bell and J.K. Simmons — the series managed to earn the acclaim of critics and has maintained a following online, so you can probably see where this is going.

The Alamo Drafthouse recently held “The Ultimate Party Down Marathon,” which had members of the cast joining fans for a marathon of the show, followed by a Q & A. Executive producer and co-creator Rob Thomas was asked about the possibility of a third season, and he took the opportunity to mention that a film is currently in the works and it could come sooner than any fans may have thought.

He said that they’re “pretty far down the deal-making process” and that if things work out, shooting could commence “next spring.” We don’t know who those deals are being made with, or what the nature of them may be; it could involve distribution with a major studio, or financing from independent parties, but nothing else has been publicly stated.

Keep in mind that Thomas is also responsible for the TV series Veronica Mars, another cancelled series that was constantly promised to have a new life on film, but is now something that not many still see as a possibility. And then there’s also another beloved show that’s been trying to do the same thing for years, Arrested Development.
