The Killer Elite starring Jason Statham, Clive Owen and Robert De Niro due out this September looks freakin' amazing. Don't believe me? Watch the trailer here on GTBP or check out this real basic, but cool poster featured below.
The scowling tough guys with guns, all sporting aviators and Owen's mustache say it all: these elite killers are out for blood or in this film's case, vengeance.
The Killer Elite is based on a true story where Statham's character, Danny Bryce, a retired member of Britain's Special Air Service (IMDB) flies off the handle when his mentor, Hunter (De Niro) is captured by his arch nemesis Spike (Owen). Bryce's mission is to defeat three assassins dispatched by Spike to kill him, before he can rescue Hunter.
The real basic plot and generic movie poster should surprisingly equal a kickass movie, one that I suspect will show Statham at his best. It'll be refreshing to see Owen return to the action genre again (The International, Sin City). And De Niro is usually good in any role where he's a tough guy.
Killer Elite hits theaters on September 23. If you feel the need to see a good 'ol Statham led action flick in the mean time, I recommend The Mechanic.
