So goes the efforts in trying to keep the Bourne franchise alive and kicking. Not only is Jeremy Renner taking the lead over from Matt Damon's Jason Bourne, but the film seems to have found its villain for The Bourne Legacy. That man is none other than Edward Norton.
Certainly we can all say that Edward Norton may not have been too successful with protagonist roles in major Hollywood production (notably with The Incredible Hulk), it cannot be dismissed that Norton succeeds in villainy as Derek Vinyard, a troubled man brought up to uphold Aryan views by his father in American History X.
Cinema Blend seems to think of Norton as a "man [that] has proven time and time again that he can play anything, but it always seems that he is at his best when utilizing his creepy/evil vibe. One can imagine that will only serve him well as he hunts down Jeremy Renner in The Bourne Legacy."
It's also being reported that Rachel Weisz will also be joining the film in an unspecified lead female role.
The Bourne Legacy will be directed by Tony Gilroy who has served as a writer on previous Bourne film and will be serving as one of the writers alongside Dan Gilroy. The film is scheduled for a August 3, 2010 release date.
