It's another uneventful weekend for movies news, though the final Harry Potter is likely still crushing box office records at this moment. Luckily, I was able to find a trailer for the animated movie The Pirates! Band of Misfits, which figures to produce some laughs via a band of goofy buccaneers. Hardy har...Arrrrgh!
As the picture above points out, the pirate adventure comes from the creative minds, like director Peter Lord behind the animated smash hits Wallace and Gromit and Chicken Run. A handful of stars have lent their talented voices to this: Hugh Grant, Brendan Gleeson, Salma Hayek, Jeremy Piven, Martin Freeman and David Tennant. Can't think of the last time Hugh Grant has been a part of a movie I wanted to see (About a Boy probably).
I'm not a huge fan of animated films, except for some Pixar ones and Ninja Scroll, but The Pirates! Band of Misfits looks mildly amusing. This is the type of movie parents would love to take their kids to. It doesn't look terrible and should include humor that appeals to adults as well.
The trailer indicates the movie is coming out soon, where as IMDB shows a September 21, 2012 release. My prediction: The Pirates! Band of Misfits will hit theaters much sooner than next year.
