Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at 7:20AM Shia LaBeouf Joins Robert Redford's 'The Company You Keep'

I've always liked Shia LaBeouf as an actor (his movies are a different story), even though in some recent interviews he comes off as a bit of a dickhead, for lack of a better word. He wants to make great films and his next project is a damn good start in that direction. Deadline reports the young actor has just landed the lead role in Robert Redford's next political drama The Company You Keep.
The film is based upon a book by Neil Gordon and has been adapted by Lem Dobbs. The story centers around a radical leftwing organization that wanted to overthrow the U.S. government, but after being on the run from the Feds for 30 plus years are exposed by a young journalist (LaBeouf).
I haven't liked the Transformers trilogy or the last Indiana Jones movie, and neither did he for the latter, though I still think it's in poor taste for him to bad mouth them. Afterall, he decided to join those films in the first place, and still needs to learn to make the best of a bad situation in the future without complaining through the press.
The Redford film is a great role for him to show movie fans that he needs to be taken seriously as an actor and prove he's dedicated to making quality movies.
Shooting for The Company You Keep is expected to begin in September.

This political thriller The Company You Keep has not been released yet. It will be release in 2012 but month is not mentioned. Charles Robert Redford, Jr. better known as Robert Redford is a versatile personality. At the age of 75 and performing in a film is really great effort. He has received two Oscars: one in 1981 for directing Ordinary People, and one for Lifetime Achievement in 2002.
