Thursday, July 21, 2011 at 12:15PM Elysium Teaser Website Now Live! Their Hiring People To Work In Space!
Do you want to weld in space? Are you a mega-structure engineer and want to work in space? Or maybe you’re a quantum networker or specialize in zero G coupling and are interested in having the opportunity to work for a new company, Armadyne, in space. More about that later in the article.
Well, yesterday, Comic-Con began in San Diego. I have the misfortune of missing this one and will hope to go to the Comic-Con in New York in October. Well, Comic-Con is the place where new comic books are unveiled and recently, since the popularity of comic book movies, directors and studios have showcased their upcoming projects. Neill Blomkamp, in 2009, actually held a screening of his first feature, District 9, at Comic-Con. That generated word-of mouth and was one of the ten films nominated for a Best Picture Oscar in 2010.
Now, ComingSoon.net has released a photo intended for a viral campaign for Blomkamp’s next film, Elysium, from Comic-Con. In addition to this poster, a "teaser" website was launched, Armadyne.net. Click on it to see the website and to apply for the many great jobs you read above and more.
Here’s the recruitment video.
I had a Resident Evil vibe when watching it, the trailer for the second film was an advertisement for a faux product. The website is pretty plain except for certain words highlighted in red. What is pretty cool is that there is an application you can sign, however, that feature is coming soon; but most likely the application is a clever way to sign up for updates for the film. Neill Blomkamp isn’t new to viral campaigns as District 9 had a heavy viral campaign. I remember seeing a wanted poster warning me of ‘prawns’ in my area and if any were sited, to call MNU, the company in the movie.
What do you think about this marketing? Does viral marketing for a film influence you to head out to the theater to see the movie? For me, Elysium is now in the top five films to watch out for in the coming future. Elysium opens on March 1, 2013, a long wait but hopefully it’ll be worth it. The cast includes Matt Damon, Jodie Foster, William Fichtner, Alice Braga, and Sharlto Copley.

Elysium has been in my top five for awhile, this just creates more excitement for it.
It's more of a fun way to spread awareness about a movie than just press stills and movie posters.
