Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at 2:08PM Todd Phillips To Produce A Film Based On Rolling Stone Article?
Todd Phillips has acquired the rights to produce, along with Scott Budnick (The Hangover Part 2), Mark Gordon (Saving Private Ryan), and Bryan Zuriff (The Messanger), a film based on an article from Rolling Stone that was published back in March titled Arms and the Dudes. The article, written by Guy Lawson, is about David Packouz and Efraim, two twenty something stoners who supplied troops in Afghanistan with weapons, a deal made possible through the pentagon. It doesn't certainly sound too much of a laugh-riot like Phillips' Old School or The Hangover but I can certainly see this marketed as a stoner comedy with a dramatic twist.
It's undetermined whether or not Phillips will be behind the camera directing this but that possibility doesn't sound too far off. Phillips' last film, The Hangover Part 2, made $252,459,309 in the US alone and made approximately $565.8 million dollars worldwide and even became the biggest weekend opening for a holiday weekend; but that's not to say that it was any good though. Who starred in Arms and The Dudes? I've never heard of this movie. Maybe I'll wait for this movie. Well, I like the Todd Phillips because it's always cool to produce movies. Hangover is one of my favorite movies.
