Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at 2:12PM 'Battleship' Trailer Is Either Hit Or Miss
How could Hollywood make a movie about a board game like Battleship? Two people sit across from one another, yelling game coordinates to try to sink the other persons ships. Where is there aliens at any point throughout this game? No, there wasn't and that's exactly what it needed to be awesome; though, to be honest, it doesn't sound any good on paper.
The trailer for Battleship hit the web today and it looks much better than what I expected and what I expected was a huge lump of shit. It does really look like a Transformer film with boats and ships or a Top Gun sequel with boats and ships but with aliens. Check it out for yourself.
There isn't really a need to attach the Battleship name to this movie except for Milton Bradley to make money. Overall, this looks really cool; a fun time at the movies. The trailer isn't astounding but it draws your attention with a bait and switch tactic. Just when you thought it was a movie about a young kid in the NAVY, they introduce aliens; it doesn't work on all people.
The film stars Taylor Kitsch (John Carter), Liam Neeson (Taken, Schindler's List), Alexander Skarsgård (HBOs True Blood), Brooklyn Decker (Just Go With It) and *ugh* Rihanna. This is director's Peter Berg's sixth film and he hasn't made a film that I completely disliked. I'll give Battleship the benefit of the doubt when it comes out May 18th, 2012.

You're right, it looks way better than expected. If the ships don't end up as the focal point of the movie, the title won't make much sense.
It should've been named something along the line of "Navy Vs. Aliens" or "Another Movie Where Taylor Kitsch Fights Aliens That Will Be Released In 2012." The second one fits.
