'The Cabin in the Woods': First New Image

FINALLY, we're getting our first glimpse at the long awaiting and long delayed The Cabin in the Woods. A Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard are behind the story and Drew Goddard is directing, the film itself has been in distribution limbo ever since MGM found itself in the middle of declaring bankruptcy. We can finally rest easy and view this new image thanks to Bloody-Disgusting:

Sure the picture itself doesn't reveal much about the plot, but our characters are seemingly stuck in said cabin and word is that "[M]uch like Cloverfield, which Goddard scripted, the Cabin story line provides a new twist on a classic scenario -- in this case the young-people-stranded-in-the-woods horror trope."

Certainly anything coming from Goddard, the man behind one of my most favorite episodes and a most shocking death on LOST, needless to say SPOILER ALERT, had me reeling. If my praise is that great, where do I even begin with Joss Whedon? Should I just restrict myself to one particular show, but even with Buffy the Vampire Slayer, I still have so many things to admire. Okay, how about this horror-centric and creep-tastic episode of "Hush".

Certainly fanboys of both Goddard and Whedon will be waiting on hand and foot. Currently, there's no official release date, rumors swirling are hoping for an October release. Maybe this bit of news is a step in the right direction. I bet this whole ordeal with the film being stuck in MGM-bankruptcy limbo and not having a release date yet is a horror film unto itself.
