This Meryl Streep starring biopic of the former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, the first and only female elected Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Even though the trailer is just a minute long, it showcases all the transformative tools that Streep carries with her. Here's our first glimpse for The Iron Lady:

"In the brief one-minute clip, Thatcher’s advisers are seen scrutinizing her high voice and demanding that she relinquish her signature hat and pearls. Meryl Streep doesn’t appear until the end of the clip, but as usual, completely steals the scene."

Meryl Streep will once again be teaming up with director Phyllida Lloyd, who directed Streep in the musical Mamma Mia!. The film also stars Jim Broadbent, Olivia Coleman, Anthony Head and Richard E. Grant.

The film is "produced by Pathe, Film 4 and the U.K. Film Council, while The Weinstein Co. nabbed the U.S. distribution rights in May". The film is set to be release in the U.S. December 16 2011.
