Monday, August 15, 2011 at 7:27AM Kevin Smith's Final Film 'Hit Somebody' To Be Two Parts

As you may know Kevin Smith like Steven Soderbergh will be retiring soon. In fact, he has publicly pledged that Hit Somebody will be his final film. However, the film will be in two parts. While touring in Canada as part of his promotional tour for Red State, Smith told fans that Hit Somebody has become too big to fit on one film.
The first part of the story will be about the main character named Buddy making it to the NHL. It'll cover his childhood and how he became who he is. While this may not be fulfilling to most moviegoers, this is his last film and he can pretty much do whatever he wants. Remember, the guy is quiting because he dislikes the studio format, the restrictions, and the whole system. He's doing this whole thing low budget by himself with some funding from his own coffers.
Personally, I believe the story of a wannabe hockey player who's dream is to score one goal in the NHL should be one film. If Rudy was made in one film, certainly this thing can be.

Oh fuck me. Kevin Smith isn't retiring fast enough. He can say how much he hates the studio format all he wants but I think they studios gave up on him a long time ago. Good luck with Red State big guy...when it comes out on DVD Oct 18th.
