Thursday, August 18, 2011 at 10:10AM First Official Plot Synopsis of Zach Snyder's 'Man of Steel'?

Here's what we know about the Man of Steel: Henry Cavill will wear the "S" on his chest, and an all star cast of veteran talent surrounds him. The movie release has been pushed to the summer of 2013 by Warner Bros. So we have all the pertinent info we need to know about Zack Snyder's Superman reboot, right? Well almost.
ComicBookMovie gives us a heads up on the first, allegedly official plot synopsis to hit the web. It's included as part of an open casting call to all men and women in the Vancouver Island area interested in becoming extras for the film.
The following is vague and underwhelming, in my opinion.
"In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Cavill) is a young twentysomething journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone's imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question--Why am I here? Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Costner), Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions. But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as "Superman", not only to shine as the world's last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves."
Tell us something we don't know. This synopsis is total Superman 101, and I'm really hoping its only purpose is to provide the casting call folks with a little basic background. Maybe this bare bones synopsis is fake like the one that leaked online for Ridley Scott's Prometheus about a month ago, but I doubt it.
Man of Steel comes out on June 14, 2013, so that leaves us ample time to discover Snyder's real intentions for Superman. Let the speculation begin!
