Thursday, August 18, 2011 at 8:10PM 'The Big Year' A Movie About Birdwatching?

I have been out of the loop for a few weeks now and during this hiatus from recreational technology the question of Steve Martin came up in conversation, so naturally, upon returning I looked him up, and viola, The Big Year. Martin stars alongside comedy veterans Jack Black and Owen Wilson in a comedy revolving around the world of birdwatching. How is that even remotely funny one might ask? Well, one might have asked that same question about a movie centered on a dog show and Christopher Guest's response was the hilarious Best in Show, probably the best movie I have ever seen about a dog show, so there is plenty of room for comedy in the wonderful world of ornithology.
The rest of the cast is quite amazing as well with Jim Parsons (Big Bang Theory), Tim Blake Nelson (Chaos), and Anthony Anderson (The Shield) to name a few, and only a few as the list is quite impressive. This will be director David Frankel's second outing with Wilson, the first being Marley & Me.
The film is slated for an October 11th release.
