Friday, August 19, 2011 at 3:23AM Tony Scott Plans to Reboot 'The Wild Bunch' & Eyes Jeff Bridges for His 'Hell's Angels' Project

It's been a headline worthy day for the brothers Scott (Ridley & Tony), as we learned earlier that Ridley Scott plans to direct a Blade Runner follow-up. Meanwhile, younger brother Tony Scott is in talks with Warner Bros. to helm a modern remake of the classic 1969 western The Wild Bunch, in addition to pursuing Oscar winning actor Jeff Bridges to star in his next film about The Hell's Angels and their exploits during the River Run Riots in 2002.
Deadline reports, The Wild Bunch remake now becomes one of three movies Scott is itching to make, joining a Top Gun sequel, since he directed the runaway train action flick Unstoppable. As far as I can tell from the article, Scott seems more intent on filming the Hell's Angels project first.
The availability of Bridges to star as Sonny Barger, leader of the infamous biker gang may ultimately decide when Scott makes the film. The speculation is if Bridges accepts the role, then filming won't begin until next spring or later, due to the actor's insanely busy schedule (The Dude is in high demand).
I could see Bridges as a natural leader of a biker gang. As far as an updated Wild Bunch is concerned?
I have friends and family members who would be up in arms about a director's plan to reboot The Wild Bunch, as I've heard it's in most movie fans Top Five of the all time best westerns ever made. Unfortunately, since the dvd has been buried in my Netflix que I haven't seen it yet.
Is a Wild Bunch remake blasphemy?
