Friday, August 19, 2011 at 12:10PM 'Wolverine 2' Production Begins In November, Not In Japan

It's likely Darren Aronofsky didn't know about this change of plan, but would he have stayed on as director had he known? Either way, we won't get to see his vision for Wolverine this time. Instead, James Mangold (director of 3:10 to Yuma) will be taking over directing duties for the Hugh Jackman starring Wolverine 2 and it will be shooting in Vancouver.
Entertainment website reported that Wolverine 2 would be shooting in Japan, but recent earthquake, nuclear plant meltdowns and never ending threats of tsunami events have certainly played a part in whether the production can go ahead. "In fact, that's the reason why Darren Aronofsky quit, fearing the production would keep him away from his family too long."
The Vancouver Sun has reported that Wolverine 2 will be filming November 11, 2011 until March 1, 2012 at the Canadian Motion Picture Park in Burnaby, Vancouver, Canada. There's still reports that there's "a chance that production may move to Japan for a month, it seems that most of the shooting will be done in Vancouver. But at least this is confirmation that "Wolverine 2" is only a few months away from going in front of cameras."
The Wolverine (aka. Wolverine 2) will be directed by James Mangold and is written by Christopher McQuarrie based on the comic book by Frank Miller and Chris Claremont. The film stars Hugh Jackman, Kelly Hu, Ken Watanabe and Naturi Naughton.
