Friday, August 26, 2011 at 3:09AM 'Ghostbusters III' to Shoot in Spring Minus Bill Murray?

I ain't afraid of no ghosts. I'm super afraid of no Bill Murray in Ghostbusters III. Now that is scary!
Former Ghostbuster and Blues Brother Dan Aykroyd confirmed on Dennis Miller Radio recently that Ghostbusters III is a go and will likely start shooting in spring. What he couldn't confirm, though he alluded to it throughout the interview was the distinct possibility that Bill Murray won't be returning with him and Harold Ramis.
Near the beginning of the interview Aykroyd seemed optimistic about the chances of Murray being onboard.
"Yes, we will be doing the movie and hopefully with Mr. Murray. That is our hope," he said.
Later he touched on how one character, despite being considered the lead actor isn't bigger than an entire movie, and to remember the older characters are passing on the torch so to speak in the new film.
"The concept is much larger than each individual role and the promise of Ghostbusters 3 is that we get to hand the equipment and the franchise down to new blood." Aykroyd said.
Aykroyd said the original Ghostbuster team is now noticably older and weaker, thus opening up an opportunity for younger stars to be included.
"My character, Ray, is now blind in one eye and can't drive the Cadillac. He's got a bad knee and can't pick up the pack. Harold [Ramis], Egon, is too large to get into the harness. We need young blood and that's the promise. We're gonna hand it to a new generation. Production this spring, I hope."
They plan to incorporate three new young actors into the cast, two men and one woman. I guess the previous reports/rumors of an all women Ghostbusters posse were false, though I could still see Anna Faris being the female lead.
Aykroyd mentioned one actor that has caught his eye, Matthew Gray Gubler (500 Days of Summer), and would likely give him a part if the young man is interested.
I'm okay with a Ghostbusters III some 30 years or so after the second film was in theaters. Unfortunately, no Murray would equal no dice for me.
Passing on the torch to a younger generation of heroes is fine, but could you imagine Star Wars without Luke Skywalker or any film where the main protagonist/face of the franchise is M.I.A for the follow-up? Who in the hell wants to see that, seriously?

I wish Dan Aykroyd would do more movies. We see too little of him. I hope Dan Aykroyd does more major films from now on, tries to reach his full potential as an actor and tries to win an Oscar. He is still sadly underrated and underappreciated even after all these years. He should have joined the A-list years ago.
The three guys – Penn Badgley, Adam Brody, Chace Crawford, James Lafferty, Shia LaBeouf, Chad Michael Murray or Anton Yelchin
The young woman – Mischa Barton, Sophia Bush, Kat Dennings, Blake Lively, Leighton Meester or Jessica Szohr
Thanks for info
It is amazing to me, how many airheads we have out there in this world. If anyone out there had been following Bill Murray online the past couple of years and had been paying attention, red flags would have been clearly seen. They have been waving everywhere! Do I know anything for sure by 100%? No, but what I do know is this: Bill Murray began suffering some kind of a health crisis last fall, carrying into winter past February, and I believe he has known for quite some time about something very serious that has happened with his health. Can anyone recognize literal sarchasm when they see it? Bill Murray said he’d only do 3 if were a ghost. Hey people, get a clue! He didn’t mean being cast as a ghost, he meant that by the time filming starts, he expects to be a ghost. That’s why he hasn’t committed to anything. Why would he, if he knew he wouldn’t be around long enough for filming to complete? In his mind, that'd knowingly break a commitment. I disagree with Bill Murray about a lot of things. Personally, I believe when it comes to judgement and decision making that all to often, he's had his head up his rear-end. I can honestly say though, that he is a professional and will not commit to a movie he doesn't plan on making.
Someday, like we all will, Bill Murray will meet our maker. The thought of him being gone makes me miserable. I don't like the idea of being around to see that.
@ rareposter.... ironically enough, you are actually the biggest airhead I've seen regarding ghostbusters 3. Bill was not speaking cryptically about his health, or foreshadowing his deteriorating health. He was speaking metaphorically with regards the integrity of the movie. He has publicly bashed Ghostbusters 2 on countless occasions.... and his disillusionment regarding the 3rd installment stems for his lack of faith in rehashing a classic successfully. When he said he'll do it if he can be a "ghost".. he meant on the condition that he is visible when the crap storm of yet another crappy hollywood sequal is resurrected. He was being humorous...not cryptic. He made clear that that part of his career was over 30 some years ago... and he doesn't want to tarnish it the way hollywood has so many other classics. His "ghost" comment had nothing to death. Get a clue brah!
Ok. Here’s a question. Bill Murray was seen at St. Peters Hospital today. Why? This may have everything to do with Ghostbusters.
