Ryan Reynolds Shines in New 'Fireflies in the Garden' Trailer

It's had to have been a kinda rough summer for Ryan Reynolds.  The Green Lantern and The Change-Up seemed destined to kill at the box office not be killed.  Luckily, the actor has a film, Fireflies in the Garden, he completed almost three years ago that will finally see the light of day this fall, coming to theaters on October 15th.

In this emotional family drama, adapted from a Robert Frost poem (semi-autobiographical) about him and his father, Reynolds stars as a man tormented, both in the past and present, by his overbearing and abusive father (Willem Dafoe).  The two find themselves at odds with each other over course of their entire lives due to an unexpected tragedy.  Julia Roberts co-stars as the mother, who as far as I can tell from the trailer is the victim of the tragedy that consesquently tears the father and son apart.

I'm not sure what kept this movie shelved for so long, but it looks incredible and should help Reynolds bounce back from a sub par summer in the eyes of most critics.  Check out the poster above to see the rest of the formidable cast in this film.
