Thursday, August 4, 2011 at 11:26AM First Shot of 'Man of Steel' Reveals More Than Superman

Although this shot isn't an actual shot from the film, a lot is revealed by this promo photo of Zack Snyder's Man of Steel. Personally, I think it looks pretty bad ass with the safe crumpled up, sparks flying everywhere, and Superman looking mean and determined.
The suit of Superman has always been tough to pull off in modern cinema. The TV series Superwoman learned that the hard way and I'm pretty sure the only reason why it didn't test well is because Adrianne Palicki looks hilarious in her costume. So what do they do here? Darken the colors a bit and change the material of the suit from cotton tights to some wetsuit/snake skin type of outfit.
The other thing you'll notice from the film is how heavily altered it is. Snyder loves to digitally alter just about everything so expect the film to have some of his signature slo-mo sequences.
One thing I see wrong with this photo is that the cape is way too long...but I'm nitpicking at this point.

Didn't The Incredibles teach us that really long capes are a huge mistake? Other than that, I'm really encouraged by the style of this picture, and think this movie is going to be great.
Makes me wonder if this Superman ever becomes Clark Kent or if he just spends all of his time in his costume. Also, here is a strange thought...where does the modern Clark Kent become Superman anyway? Starbucks bathrooms?
Will, haha that's funny, I guess since there's no payphones he'll whip out his iPhone and hide in a corner like he's watching child porn changing his clothes.
