Saturday, August 6, 2011 at 7:37AM Bryan Cranston Up for Small but Important Role in Brad Pitt's 'World War Z'

I'd love to see Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston killling zombies on the bigscreen, and may soon get my wish. THR reports, Cranston is in talks for a little, but flashy role in Brad Pitt's post-apocalyptic zombie flick World War Z.
Cranston, if he signs on, won't be the only notable AMC network star appearing alongside Pitt in Marc Forster's film. Mireille Enos of The Killing and James Badge Dale from the now cancelled show Rubicon and HBO's The Pacific are also attached to World War Z.
World War Z is the film adaptation of the Max Brooks novel that presents a global zombie takeover ten years after the fact. The film will be released sometime in 2012.
I can't imagine Cranston having any smaller of a role than he did in The Lincoln Lawyer, playing a detective for maybe all of ten minutes in that movie. At least, the THR article indicates his role in World War Z will be an important one. As long as he puts a hurting on a zombie, I'm cool.
Cranston is a great actor, so I hate to see him take lesser roles. He does have a full slate of movies coming up and I'm stoked for a few of them: Contagion, Total Recall, Argo, Drive. Not to mention two more seasons of Breaking Bad.

Cranston is one of the best actors in Hollywood, but he's not exactly a household name b/c most of his work is on television. Maybe a few key movie roles will change that b/c he's on the par with Paul Giamatti and Phillip Seymour Hoffman.
